What would happen to your body if you only had coffee?

Por Rory

What would happen to your body if you exclusively consumed coffee for a few days? On YouTube channel Life Noggin they have asked this question and analyzed the consequences, both negative and positive, of consuming only coffee. Do not expect that drinking only coffee will make you the most productive and fastest person in the world. At least, not without collateral effects.

If you start the day drinking about 230 grams of coffee, your gastrointestinal tract will begin to absorb it quickly. As caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, it accelerates the production of certain chemicals in the brain, which will make you much more aware of what is happening around you and make you feel more energetic. It is also very likely that you have a 30% chance of wanting to go to the bathroom. If this is the case, your stomach acid levels will suddenly skyrocket, which in turn will speed up the digestive process.

After that first cup of coffee, you have taken another seven, which translates into about 800 milligrams of caffeine. So being in the office will seem like sewing and singing. Coffee triggers the levels of serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline a good news, if it were not because the pulse is accelerating, blood pressure increases, you start to breathe more quickly and you have eye tics. In other words: you will be the most alert and awake person in the office, but maybe you will not hit the key.

The guys from Life Noggin point out that it is considered safe to consume up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day, according to data from the Food and Drug Administration of the United States. So consuming the double causes headaches, nausea, excitement and muscle spasms. That's without taking into account that a cup of coffee only contains five calories. So you'll be famished in the middle of the day. If you consume about five grams of caffeine, you may end up falling into a coma. Some studies suggest that just one gram is enough to risk a heart attack.

But not everything is bad news. Other studies also highlight that regular consumption - within a balanced diet - reduces the risk of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, type-2 diabetes, and even some cancers. Its moderate consumption also reduces the risk of suicide by 50%.
