Hollywood stars who drastically transform their bodies

Por Rory

If you are a fan of Anne Hathaway and you have noticed that in recent photos she is seen with a few extra kilos, the actress has a message for you: "It's not me, it's you". Hathaway said publicly that he is gaining weight for his next film and has wanted to anticipate that those who want to stigmatize it. The actress shared a video on Instagram that shows the routine she is applying to transform her body for the film. She is seen lifting weights as part of a muscle-enhancement program with a personal trainer and looks heavier than her usual image.

She accompanied the video with the following words: "I am gaining weight for a film role and things are going well, to all those who are going to embarrass me for fat in the next few months, it's not me, it's you." Peace".While the protagonist of The Devil Wears Prada did not reveal what tape she is transforming her body for, she does have several projects that could be behind her weight gain.

Among these is "Live Fast Die Hot", a drama about a New Yorker whose life transforms into being a mother and "The Lifeboat", the story of a young woman prosecuted for murder. It is not the first time, however, that Hathaway undergoes a radical change of weight. In 2012, the already thin actress lowered 10 kilos to play the character of the emaciated prostitute Fantine in "Les Miserables". For her performance in "Les Miserables" she won the Oscar for best-supporting actress, however, Hathaway later confessed that with her diet and the demands of filming she was always exhausted and on the verge of a mental collapse.

It is curious that in an industry associated with glamor, and in which the physical aspect is taken care of, the superstars want to "suffer for their art" in this way. However, that kind of sacrifice draws attention in Hollywood and can represent dividends during the award season and increase the price of artists. Thus, there are several actors and actresses who are measured at the extremes of consuming or stop consuming, calories.

Jennifer Lawrence played an exbailarina in "Operation Red Sparrow" and said that losing weight made her feel hungry all the time. "I remember having a nervous breakdown, I became hysterical after eating five slices of banana," he confessed to Vanity Fair magazine. Quite the opposite happened with Renee Zellweger, who had a memorable change of figure in "The Diary of Bridget Jones." Zellweger increased more than 12 kilos of weight to the point of hamburgers, milkshakes and chocolates.

Although these two actresses have won their respective Oscar, none was for those roles for those who changed their physiognomy. The same did not happen with Charlize Theron, who in 2004 received the award for best actress for her spectacular transformation in "Monster: serial killer". The South African actress not only raised almost 15 kilos, applied a false teeth to have a more severe face.

Theron is known for the fluctuation of her appearance for different roles. But men are not left behind when it comes to weight gain or weight loss, depending on the case. Perhaps the most recognized (if not the first) to subject his body to an extreme transformation is Robert DeNiro. He did it twice. The first time was for the biography of boxer Jake La Motta in the film "Toro salvaje". The actor not only had to cling to a strict regime to achieve the lean body of a fighter of the medium category but, then, had to increase 28 kilos, to represent La Motta in his retirement years. De Niro received the Oscar for best actor in 1980.

When he had regained his normal weight, he was offered to play the gangster Al Capone, in the 1987 film "The Untouchables." The actor asked to give him time to gain weight again because he wanted to achieve the roundness of Capone's face, so he went to breakfast every day with pancakes and went on a gastronomic tour of Italy. His two weight gains were so legendary in Hollywood that actor Charles Grodin once said, jokingly, that acting with De Niro was a pleasure because he "knows the best restaurants."

Another actor who has risen and lost weight according to the character he plays and has been recognized with an Oscar is Matthew McConaughey. He was unrecognizable in the film "Dallas Buyers Club: The Club of the Evicted," after losing 20 kilos for the role of a patient with AIDS. McConaughey then experienced another bodily change for the film "Gold," gaining weight with a diet of cheeseburgers and beer. Christian Bale could be considered the new chameleon (in terms of kilos) of Hollywood. His emaciated appearance in "El Maquinista", in 2004, is far from how he looked 10 years later in "American Scandal" (American Hustle). For the first, his regime was one apple and one can of tuna a day to lose weight. For the second, he consented to a diet of cakes and cheeseburgers.
