The Gran Manzana Kempinski hotel in Havana won the continental Prix Versailles of architecture, at a ceremony in Santiago de Chile, where shops, stores and restaurants of the continent were also distinguished. At the gala, held at the Hidalgo Castle of Santa Lucía hill in Santiago, the Havana hotel was awarded "for the extraordinary restoration and renovation" in the old building called Manzana de Gómez.

The general manager of Havanatour in Chile, Israel Otaño, received the Grand Prix Versailles of the region in the hotel segment, in which Casa República de Lima, Peru, won the Special Interior Award, and Tierra Chiloé Hotel of Chile, the Exterior Special Award. 'It is an honor to receive this distinction on behalf of the Kempinski company and the Gaviota tourism chain; reason for pride and at the same time serves as a reference for tourism in our island, "said Otaño. At the same time, the head of Havanatour stressed that it is also recognition of the development of the tourism industry in Cuba.

The award places the Gran Manzana Kempinski among the finalists of the World Prix Versailles, whose award ceremony will take place at the Unesco headquarters in Paris on May 15. The executive director of Image of Chile, Myriam Gómez, stressed that awarding commercial architecture, dedicated to hotels, businesses, shops and restaurants, is also a look towards harmony and respect for spaces in the urban concert of the region, the maximum that inspires the event. "It is the first time that the Prix Versailles has arrived in a Latin American country since its establishment in 2015, so it is a pride for our country," said the executive director of Image in Chile, Myriam Gómez.
