Main suspect of the massacre in Tennessee gets caught

Por Damian

According to El Nuevo Herald news portal, police forces captured last Monday the man who shot four people and wounded two others in a restaurant over the weekend in Tennessee. It is safe to say that Travis Reinking, of 29 years old, is in police custody, authorities said without giving further details.

Shortly before the apprehension the police had issued an arrest warrant against Reinking on several counts of murder following the shooting at the Waffle House restaurant in Nashville. Agents also reported Monday that the individual stole a BMW before the crime, and that he is mentally unstable.

"The crime he committed, of killing four people, there is nothing more urgent than finding him", police spokesman Don Aaron said hours before the capture. "Given the mental instability that has shown, that we have seen, in recent months, well, that gives more urgency to the matter", he added.

Police also reported that Reinking tried to contact President Donald Trump in July when authorities arrested him outside the compound where the White House is located. Secret Service special agent Todd Hudson said Reinking "wanted to arrange a meeting with the president". The official said the suspect tried to cross the bicycle parking lot near the grounds of the presidential residence and refused to leave when the security personnel asked him to leave.

Hudson added that Reinking was arrested for having entered without permission. The suspect was subsequently released and later interviewed by the FBI and authorities in Tazewell County, Illinois. The individual is a native of Morton, Illinois.

Last Monday, the police released the names of the people who died. It's about Taurean C. Sanderlin, 29; Joe R. Perez, 20; Akilah Dasilva, 23; and Deebony Groves, 21 years old. Also injured were Shanita Wagoner, 21, and Sharita Henderson, 24.

Spokesman Aaron reported Monday that at the request of the FBI, Reinking's permit to have weapons was revoked, and four pistols were confiscated, including the AR-15 rifle he would have used in Sunday's attack.

Meanwhile, a congressman asked to restrict access to some assault weapons in the wake of the shooting in Tennessee. Rep. Jim Cooper issued a statement on Sunday calling for the restriction of "widespread civilian access to military-grade assault weapons".
